KUDOS!

Special thanks to Leo Knijnenburg and Ko Maljaars of the Netherlands for doing fabulous research circa 2013 on replacement EFI sensors for the CX500 and CX650 Honda Turbos! The're both members of the Dutch Honda Turbo Motorcycle Club - HFTC Parts Commission.

Their incredible research led to a breakthrough that makes these bikes a joy to own and ride.

Details on their Pb Sensor, etc. research and recommendations is documented here on the CX500 Turbo Forum: Honda Sensor Upgrades

The original Honda sensors were well-calibrated when new. Now, they are old, arthritic, unresponsive, insensitive and deliver erroneous values to the EFI computer. If you have a CX500T or CX650T, you will definitely benefit from sensor upgrades!

Symptoms of a Failing Pb Sensor (MAP sensor):
  • Poor throttle response under 3,000 rpms
  • Lurching, glitching and surging at slow speeds under light loads
  • Hard starting
  • Irregular idle
  • Idle “cycling”
  • Idle “dips”
  • Stalling
  • Slow warmup
  • Back-fire on deceleration
  • Over-leanness” off-boost
Symptoms of a Falling P1 Sensor (atmospheric pressure sensor):
  • Bike runs poorly whenever there is a sudden weather change.
  • Bike runs poorly when climbing or descending a mountain pass.
  • Back-fire on deceleration
    Over-leanness” off-boost
