Not a generic, universal product. This is a Turbo Enterprises exclusive designed specifically for the Honda CX500 and CX650 Turbos. This is a direct “plug and play” replacement rectifier / voltage regulator with correctly oriented LATCHING connectors …just like Honda supplied. It even comes with the corresponding LATCHING connectors and terminals to re-new the original connectors on the bike’s wiring harness if desired. Bolts up neatly to the original mounting holes on the frame.

Fuel-injected engines require accurate voltage regulation for proper operation of the precision electronic sensors and devices that control fueling to the engine. In fact, Honda even included a voltage regulation function (actually compensation) into the design of the Electronic Control Unit (CFI computer) to adjust for the somewhat variable performance of voltage regulators available when these machines were new. Suffice it to say, you need a healthy battery, stator and rectifier/regulator unit for optimal performance.

That’s why Turbo Enterprises collaborated with Sparck Moto to create this shunt-type MOSFET unit specifically for the CX500 and CX650 Turbo models. Older styles of regulator/rectifiers use devices called thyristors which do a decent job of voltage regulation, but this MOSFET unit is a nice upgrade for more precise voltage regulation.

The set-point for max voltage regulation is set slightly lower at 14.4V, so this unit is safe for conventional, AGM and Lithium-ion batteries. (You probably know that LI-ION batteries do require special versions of battery maintainers.

Our MOSFET unit is engineered to handle sustained current of 30 amps and peak loads of 50 amps. That's almost twice the capability you require on a Honda Turbo.

Product Notes:

1. The stock wiring harness has 5 terminals in the 6-block “flat” connector to the right of the battery and a 3-block connector for the yellow stator wires (behind the battery)

2. The OEM voltage regulator / rectifier uses a black “sensing” wire in the 6-block connector. The design of the MOSFET unit does not require this “sensing” wire so it’s eliminated from the MOSFET harness. The MOSFET unit senses battery voltage directly for more precise voltage regulation.

3. The connectors supplied are “latching” style in the correct orientation to mate directly to the original connectors on the bike without modification.

4. Extra male terminals and latching connectors are supplied in case you wish to renew the connectors on the bike’s wiring harness.
